About Sigma Omega Nu
A Home Away From Home
Our founding mothers recognized a need for an organization that emphasized academics, cultural acceptance, family support, and Latina womxn pursuing higher education. At the time, no such organization existed on their campus; as a result, Sigma Omega Nu was born.
Sigma Omega Nu was founded on November 6, 1996, and it was the first Latina interest sorority established at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Sigma Omega Nu has since spread across three states: California, Colorado, and Nevada. Today, Sigma Omega Nu’s membership is made up of diverse womxn from all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political backgrounds.
The members of Sigma Omega Nu remain dedicated to 3 objectives: Academics, Cultura, and Sisterhood.
